About the Faculty of Engineering at UNN

In 1961, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, established the Faculty of Engineering as a College of Engineering. When the college was founded, it was renamed the Faculty of Engineering, and it became the country’s first engineering faculty in a university in Nigeria.

 

Prof. J.A. Veltrop was the first dean of this great faculty. Prof. Emenike Ejiogu, an electrical engineering professor, is the current dean of the faculty of engineering. The faculty has had twenty-five deans since its founding. Senior lecturers and above make up half of the academic personnel. The eight departments have a combined total of 2438 students.

 

There are 106 teachers in the Faculty of Engineering. There are 2,348 undergraduate and 337 graduate students in the faculty, for a total of 2,775 students enrolled.
