Blind Nigerian Man Bags Masters Degree, Wins Full PhD Scholarship to University of Ottawa Canada

Paul Okpanachi was not born blind. Sight, once a vibrant canvas of colors and shapes, had been a familiar companion until a cruel twist of fate snatched it away in his early teens. Yet, in the void where vision once resided, a different kind of light began to glow – a light of determination, resilience, and an unyielding spirit.

His world, once painted with vivid hues, transformed into a monochrome existence. But Paul refused to be confined by the darkness. He learned to navigate his world with an acute sense of hearing, touch, and a memory that was as sharp as a tack. Books became his windows to the world, their pages filled with landscapes, faces, and emotions he could only imagine.

Education became his sanctuary. He devoured knowledge with a voracious appetite, his mind a sponge soaking up information. The classroom, a place where many would have felt isolated, became his battleground. He challenged misconceptions, broke down barriers, and proved that intelligence was not tethered to sight.

His undergraduate years at Kogi State University were a testament to his tenacity. History and International Studies became his passions, subjects that allowed him to explore the world beyond his physical limitations. He learned to rely on his professors, classmates, and a growing network of friends who became his eyes and ears in a world that often overlooked him.

Graduation was a milestone, but it was just the beginning. The desire to delve deeper into the complexities of human migration and the plight of refugees ignited a flame within him. A master’s degree at the American University in Cairo beckoned, a chance to explore his passions on a global stage. The journey was fraught with challenges – navigating a new country, adapting to a different culture, and overcoming the academic rigors of a demanding program. But Paul was undeterred.

His intelligence, coupled with an indomitable spirit, made him a standout student. He thrived on the intellectual stimulation, engaging in passionate debates, and forming lifelong bonds with classmates from diverse backgrounds. Cairo, a city teeming with life and chaos, became a melting pot where he honed his research skills and expanded his worldview.

The master’s degree was a crowning achievement, a testament to years of hard work and perseverance. Yet, his journey was far from over. The allure of doctoral studies beckoned, and with a scholarship to the University of Ottawa, Canada, a new chapter was about to unfold.

But life, with its unpredictable twists, had other plans. Returning to Nigeria after his master’s, he faced a harsh reality. The country was grappling with insecurity, and Paul and his wife found themselves victims of a robbery. The incident was a stark reminder of the challenges that lay beyond the realm of academia.

Despite the setback, Paul’s spirit remained unbroken. He dusted himself off, his resolve strengthened by the ordeal. The world may have thrown curveballs, but he was a fighter, a survivor, a beacon of hope in a world that often seemed shrouded in darkness. And as he prepared for his doctoral journey, he carried with him not just his academic brilliance, but also the resilience of a spirit tempered by adversity.

His story was a testament to the human spirit, a narrative that defied limitations and celebrated the triumph of hope over despair. Paul Okpanachi was more than just a blind man; he was a symbol of courage, a pioneer, a trailblazer who dared to dream and dared to achieve.

Introduction

Computer science courses in Nigerian universities provide students with an all-round education on theoretical and practical computer knowledge. The curriculum entails programming, algorithms, data structures and advanced areas such as cyber security. Other functional specializations include: the duration is normally four years for a B.Sc.

Some programs contain internships to enable the students to acquire practical experience in the field before they enter the market to work. Well, performance in Mathematics and science subjects is relevant while applying for admission. This depends on the specifics, although attempts are made to enhance the facilities.

The job offers graduates the opportunity to include software development and IT consulting with places in other industries. Difficulties include restricted infrastructure and inadequate training of the students in some focus areas of the industry. Other fields, such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, are also emerging as areas of research.

How to Check 2022 UTME Results | Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)
See how you may now check your 2022 UTME result both online (through the JAMB result checking portal) and offline (via the JAMB result checking portal) (via SMS). Candidates who took the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, also known as UTME, can now view their results, according to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is a statutory body that administers entrance exams to Nigeria’s different universities, polytechnics, colleges, and other higher institutions.

Candidates who took the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) between Saturday, May 6th and Sunday, May 15th can now check their results online or through SMS.

How to Check JAMB Result 2022
Checking JAMB results can be done in two ways. Candidates can access their results via the JAMB webpage or by SMS (using JAMB shortcodes).

The online alternative is completely free; all you need is an internet-enabled device to check your results. Candidates who do not have access to the internet or who live in areas with poor network coverage should use the SMS option. Using the SMS option, however, will incur a fee from the network operator.

The JAMB results for 2022 are yet to be posted online as of the time of posting. Candidates can only check their results by SMS [for the time being, this is the only way to check the 2022 UTME results because the Board has not yet submitted them to the website].

Offline JAMB Exam Results (via SMS)
Candidates can now text the word UTMERESULT (without the spaces) to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number they used to register (you must have a credit balance of at least N50 on your line). Shortly after, you’ll receive an SMS with the results.
The following are the expected responses:

If a candidate enters a phone number that was not used to register, he will receive a notification saying, “This phone number was not used for registration.”

A message will be sent to a candidate who has received a result. “Dear Mr./Miss X, your result is as follows.” (and the necessary information will be delivered).

If a candidate is absent, the feedback will be “CANDIDATE ABSENT.”
A candidate who was MIA without a registration number and canceled will be notified of this.
A candidate who gets unlawful entrance to the examination hall will receive the message “Invalid Entrance into the Exam Hall.”
Online (on the JAMB portal – jamb.gov.ng) JAMB Result
STEP 1: Go to https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/eFacility/CheckUTMEResults on the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) result checking portal.
STEP 2: Fill in the required column with your Registration Number or Phone Number.
STEP 3: Finally, to obtain your UTME results notification, click on the ‘Check My Results’ option.

The portal will return your JAMB Notification of Result if your result is ready. You can then proceed with the printing of the result.

The original JAMB result slip to print: The JAMB result slip is N1,000 (one thousand naira only) and includes passport photos. Candidates who need to print their results slips should go to the JAMB E-facility portal and follow the instructions here: How to Print the JAMB Original Result Slip for All Years. a href=”https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility_/” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”> https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility_/
